A graphic designer, Mr. Allen has distinguished himself as the inventor of several sustainable paper-based outdoor products for wild birds. He attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and Advertising in 1971. His research showed that birders believe it is essential to provide bird shelter due to the loss of protection due to urban sprawl, deforestation, and global warming. His GreenBird House is a very earth-friendly way to do that. He then designed and added other natural products to the GreenBird line, including Seed Pies, the GreenBird Nesting Material Box, and Real Milk Paint kits. Since 1912, Mr. Allen has been the designer and sole employee of GreenBird LLC.
Since he graduated from CCAD, Mr. Allen has held positions at various firms and advertising agencies, usually as Corporate Art Director or Vice President. These include Greenfield Printing and Publishing, Super Food Services, Weir McBride Advertising, Applied Communications, and McNally Communications.
Mr. Allen maintained activity as the vice president and creative director of the Jaap-Orr Company of Cincinnati from 1998 until the invention of the GreenBird House in 2012. He attributes his success to his dedication to positivity, open and curious mind, and an active imagination. His penchant for always enjoying his work and the people he works with has always been a significant factor. Mr. Allen is active in his civic endeavors as a Voice of Hope for the American Cancer Society. He was the 1995 Chairman of the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival. GreenBird LLC won The Best of Cincinnati Award 2019 for products and services due to how they impact the environment.
